m-bread web design is the web site design & creation operations of Martin Pain.
I design and create websites for individuals, businesses, charities and any other parties who want a user-friendly, visually appealing, useful online presence. I charge low rates, which are discussed and decided on a project-by-project basis and depend upon the complexity of the project. I will work at reduced rates for charities, to help you get a decent online presence without compromising your finances.
If you would like a website made for you, or require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me on websites@m-bread.com or use the contact page.
Portfolio
View my portfolio of websites to see a collection of websites I have made, and the languages and technologies I used with them.
There is a shopping website, a youth group website, a property listing website and this website. I used various technologies including php, MySQl, XHTML, CSS, XSLT, Javascript, Flash and ActionScript. For more information, see the 'Technologies Used' section of each website in the portfolio.
Design aims
I focus on a number of point for any website I create:
- Usability & intuition - to make websites easy for people to navigate and use, and make it easy for them to find the information that they are looking for. I make websites for which users should not require much instruction.
- User-centred design & modern technologies - to provide the easiest-to-use and most useful websites possible. Backwards-compatibility is also included for computers that cannot use modern technologies.
- Standards compliant - to provide reliable use of the websites on different computers and different media, such as palmtop computers and mobile phones. See my methods & policies page for specific details.
- Optimised loading times - images and pages are optimised to speed up the loading of the pages, to help avoid users getting impatient and leaving the site.
- Easy editing - so the owner of the website can update the contents of the pages quickly and easily, so the website is constantly up-to-date.
- Multi-media distribution - Internet communication can take many forms; from websites, to e-mails, to RSS feels and Podcasts. There are many ways in which people can access information over the Internet, and I make websites that can include any number of these communication methods to supplement and compliment the main website.
- Accessibility - so the website is available to people with disabilities.
- A good standard of English - to reduce confusion that can occur when language is used inaccurately or in a way that is not easy to understand.
See my methods & policies page for more information on the standards and accessibility checkpoints I check my websites against.
